We are sprinting towards the finish line in the competitive portion of marching band season! I wanted to take a moment and pass along details for the next few events.
10/9/15 Central @ Grove City
Our report time for students is 3:30 and our departure time tonight is 5:30. The weather should cooperate with no rain and temps in the 60's! We should be home around 11:15 pm.
10/16/15 Band Senior Night
Next week's home game is senior night! We plan to recognize all of our seniors and their parents. This will take place prior to pregame. Details for changing back into uniforms after the ceremony will be made with Mr. McClelland. Additionally, we are hosting 8th grade night. Ridgeview Junior High 8th graders will join us during pregame to experience what it's like to be under the Friday night lights!
Note: To stay in accordance with tradition and the wearing of goofy costumes, the senior show will take place on 10/29.
10/17/15 - 2 Events
Ronald McDonald House Collection
First I want to congratulate all of our students for a great first show at the Cambridge Cavalcade of Bands contest. I was very proud of everyone involved. Our staff, boosters and students executed the plan flawlessly, despite the weather. Again, very proud!!!
We have roughly 15 students who have yet to pay the second half of their PTP fee. Please remember to get this paid. The school has the right, per board policy to remove students from the field if this is not paid.
Central vs. North 10/2/15
Central travels to North this year. Safety is always our priority at football games, this is even more true when we are away at rival schools. We plan on having a very specific entrance and exit strategy getting in and out of the North stadium. Additionally, our boosters are planning to have a 3rd quarter meal plan available. It is not free, but will be at a comparable price. The boosters are not making a profit off of this service. We don't want Central band students going to North concessions, the liability is too great.
Watkins Memorial and Teays Valley Contests 10/3/15
We have 2 big events coming up. I wanted to take a second to get some details out to you for planning purposes.
Before I go into details I need to remind everyone to take care of the District's PTP fee. It is a necessary fee for every co-curricular (like band) and extra-curricular activity (like football). Your child will not be permitted to perform at the football game or contest if this fee is not paid. This is above me, the only way to prevent this from happening is to pay the fee. Please make arrangements to pay with Kathy Turnbull in the High School Office @ 614-548-1825.
9/11 Football Game
Tomorrow night's Game is at 7:30 in Tiger Stadium. Rehearsal will start at 4:00 on our practice field. Students need to wear their white show shirt and black socks. (not no-show socks)
We will break to get dressed around 5:45. The band will line-up in uniform around 6:15 in the LT lot. (this is the large parking lot closest to Hill Road) We will march to the stadium and start our pregame show around 7:10. Students are dismissed from the stadium at the end of the game.
9/19 Cambridge Cavalcade of Bands Contest (we are not performing at Denison University)
The Labor Day parade and Bicentennial Festival is Monday, 9/7. Below I have attached a timeline of events for the day. Due to this year's bicentennial celebration some of the details have changed so please read carefully!
8:30AM - Report to PHSC (wear summer uniforms)
9:00AM - Rehearsal with North for Central vs. North FB game. (on 10/2)
9:45AM - Water and Line-up for Parade
10:00 - Parade steps-off
11:30ish- Performance at the Lion's Club Fish Fry in Victory Park
The location of this performance has changed for the bicentennial.
Both bands will set up on the "hill" located just off of Lockville Road
in Victory Park. Lockville Rd will be closed from Columbus St to
12:15ish- Students will be dismissed for the day.
I will have the band room open for 45 minutes after students are dismissed.
It is important to note all of the times are subject to change. Given the addition of several bicentennial related events it is impossible to accurately predict the timeline for the entire morning. Be flexible, enjoy the parade and watching your child do what they love.
I wanted to take a moment to give some last minute detail/timeline about tonight's Dinner and Preview.
5:00 - Band room open for instrument pick-up
5:30 - Dinner service begins
6:00 - Band room closed
7:00 - Students report to Tiger Stadium
7:30 - Dinner service ends
8:00 - Preview show begins
The Show will last approximately 30+ minutes. We will demonstrate our "fun"damental block, 2 pregame and 2 half time runs.
Because we are doing our preview show a little over a month earlier than last year we will present our show in summer uniforms. Students are encouraged to bring a light jacket or hoodie for the 7:00 rehearsal. (just don't forget them afterward)
We are all very excited to show you what we have been working on since the 3rd week of July!
Have a great day,
